Acer's Swift Blade 14 weighs just 799g — the lightest 14-inch laptop in the world
Acer's new Swift Blade 14 breaks the 800g barrier for 14-inch laptops, arriving at IFA 2026 with a claimed weight of just 799g. That's lighter than the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 (986g) and the Asus Zenbook A14 (870g) — the two closest rivals in the ultra-light category. If you carry a laptop all day, the difference is real.
The build
The low weight comes from a carbon fibre and magnesium-aluminium chassis — materials common in premium business machines but rarely pushed this far. The 14-inch OLED display runs at 3K resolution with 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage and 4.3mm bezels in a 16:10 aspect ratio. Connectivity is three USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a Full HD webcam with mode switching. Colours are marshmallow blue and marshmallow white.
Under the hood sits an Intel Core 7 350 — a Wildcat Lake chip with six cores and a 15–35W TDP, per the Acer Press Release. That's an entry-level processor, not the Core Ultra 9 silicon found in some rivals at this weight. For office work and light creative tasks it should be fine; for anything heavier, it may show its limits. RAM is 12GB soldered — non-upgradeable — while competitors like the X1 Carbon offer 16GB configurations at comparable price points. Storage is a 1TB SSD.

Acer has confirmed EMEA availability in December 2026 and a North America launch in Q1 2027. EMEA pricing is positioned below €2,000, per TBreak. For the UK specifically, Expert Reviews has reported a figure under £1,000, though Acer has not made an official UK price announcement. Exact retailer commitments and in-stock dates remain to be confirmed.
Worth watching
The 50Wh battery is modest for a laptop aimed at all-day portability — real-world endurance figures haven't been tested by independent reviewers yet. The soldered 12GB RAM also means no upgrade path if your workloads grow. Still, if weight is the priority and the price lands where expected, the Swift Blade 14 sets a new benchmark in the 14-inch category.
