Poco X8 Power packs a 10,000 mAh battery into a 9 mm body — but good luck buying one
Poco has launched the X8 Power in India, and the headline spec is a 10,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery in a phone that's just 9 mm thick — roughly the same profile as a standard mid-ranger. Sales go live on Flipkart on September 11, starting at ₹16,900 (around $200). If you're outside India, though, there's no confirmed launch date anywhere else.
The specs
The X8 Power runs on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 — a capable mid-range chip for everyday tasks, streaming, and casual gaming. The 6.83-inch AMOLED display hits 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh, and a claimed 3,500-nit peak brightness, meaning it should stay readable in direct sunlight. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers the front, and the panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
Camera hardware is modest: a 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP secondary, and a 32 MP selfie camera. You also get stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint reader. The phone ships with HyperOS 3 on Android 16, and Poco is promising four Android version updates plus six years of security patches — unusually long support for this price tier.
The battery, up close
Ten thousand milliamp-hours sounds extreme, but the tradeoff is weight: the X8 Power tips the scales at 229g, compared to 190g for last year's Poco X7 with its 5,500 mAh cell. Charging is fast at 100W HyperCharge, and the phone doubles as a power bank — it can push up to 27W out over a cable to charge other devices.
The IP69K rating is the other standout. Most phones top out at IP68, which covers submersion. IP69K adds resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets — the kind of wash-down that industrial equipment gets. For a mid-range phone, that's unusual.
Availability
Right now, the X8 Power is India-only. The standard Poco X8 — a different model with an 8,340 mAh battery and Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 — is already in European retail at €319–€449 per GSMArena, but the X8 Power variant has no listed price or date for the US, UK, or Europe. Rivals like the Realme P4 Power and Honor Win Turbo are chasing the same 10,000 mAh benchmark in 2026, but both are also Asia-first. For now, the X8 Power is a spec sheet worth watching — not yet a phone worth waiting in line for.
