Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the closing chapter of Square Enix's FF7 Remake trilogy, launches April 8, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox App. That simultaneous four-platform release is a first for the series — FF7 Remake was a PS4 exclusive, and FF7 Rebirth was PS5-only at launch. For fans who have been waiting on Xbox or PC, the wait ends on day one this time.

The story so far

Revelation picks up directly after Rebirth, continuing Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, and the rest of the cast as they work to save Midgar from a looming meteor threat. Square Enix released a ten-minute gameplay overview trailer showing the seamless open world, updated combat mechanics, and new features — worth watching before diving into the editions breakdown below.

Seven editions, one big question

Square Enix is offering four digital and three physical editions, per Square Enix official (NA):

Digital editions: - Standard — $69.99: base game only - Premium — $99.99: base game, 24-hour early access, Story Expansion Pass (both DLCs), and an accessories set - Premium Plus — $109.99: everything in Premium, plus Polydroids Alexander Materia, an extra armor unit, an extra accessory, a digital artbook, and a mini soundtrack - Trilogy — $85: all three Remake-series games in one bundle, aimed at newcomers

Physical editions: - Standard — $69.99: Day 1 "First Print" copies include an exclusive Magic: The Gathering × Final Fantasy Final Showdown promo card - Deluxe — $99.99: steelbook, artbook, mini soundtrack CD, and the MTG promo card - Collector's — $350: everything in Deluxe plus a premium statuette of Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth; a hardcover artbook; mini soundtrack CD; both story DLCs; and in-game items including Mechanical Chocobo and Moogle summon Materia. Exclusive to the official Square Enix store — no third-party retailers

Japanese fans get an additional $500 Complete Trilogy Collector's Edition covering all three games.

The DLC question

Two story expansions are planned after launch, confirmed via PlayStation Blog (official). The first focuses on Sephiroth and arrives Winter 2027–2028. The second centers on Vincent Valentine and his history with the Turks, targeting Spring 2028. Both are included in the Premium and Premium Plus editions via the Story Expansion Pass, or available separately for everyone else.

That gap between episodes — potentially six months or more — is worth factoring into your edition choice now. If you plan to play both DLCs, the Premium tier pays for itself over buying them individually. If you're unsure, the Standard edition at $69.99 keeps your options open.

No GBP or EUR pricing has been announced yet. Square Enix typically converts at the point of sale through platform storefronts, so expect regional prices to appear on the PS Store, Steam, and Xbox App closer to launch.
